How to license
Release your music without worrying about sample clearance
Download samples. Make music. Own the rights.

Royalty-free, until it hits big
Clearance is only necessary if your track hits a million streams or is released by a major label. Generate a license using our standard terms, or request your own custom terms.
Instant Clearance
You’ll see the license as you browse, so no surprises. Splits depend on the license tier (A, B, or C) and how long the sample runs in your track.

Submit a Custom Proposal
Whether you’re a label or an independent artist, if the standard license isn’t the right fit, you can easily request custom terms by sending us a proposal.
This is for a track coming out through Interscope. Offering $500 and 10% publishing / 2% master. Let me know if you’re open to that. [Example]
Why Artists Save Their Best for WAVS
When musicians sell a loop on Splice or Output, they have to accept the royalty‑free licensing terms. Their music could be sampled in a hit song and they will never see any residuals from it. We decided to switch things up and add an option for royalty splits. That's why creators often save their best work for us.
A Safe Resource for Beat Licensing
You can make beats with samples from WAVS and sell them on platforms like Beatstars without sharing a percentage of the beat licensing revenue. Your customer must pay the sample creator royalties if their song hits 1M+ streams or is published on a major label. Learn more

No, you do not need to register tracks that use our royalty-free samples.
You’re only required to register your tracks with us if either of the following conditions are met: if a major record label distributes your track, or if your track surpasses 1 million streams. However, we encourage you to register your track beforehand, even if these conditions have not been met.
Once you register your track with us, it’s important to make sure the creator gets properly credited and paid a share of revenue splits. After you register, you'll receive a license agreement with your terms. You can (and should) then share this document with the artist’s team (if you’re not the artist) or with the record label / distributor of the track.
